14 year old raises $15,000 with What Not To Spend fashion show to help area children

The Children Shelter and Ellen Hines Smith Girls home are benefiting from a 14 year old’s fundraiser that raked in 15,900 dollars today.

Emma McDaniel believes in the power of thrift and she showcased it in her “What Not To Spend” fashion show at the Summit Pointe in Spartanburg.

I had the pleasure of emceeing the event with Amy Zimmer, of Couture Closets in downtown Spartanburg.

We are both amazed by this young lady, who hunted down the fashions featured on the runway, at Goodwill, and Couture Closets.

The most impressive find:  a 25 cent pair of Holister Jeans!

There was a live auction, silent auction and an awesome fashion show with area children.

So wonderful to see a young lady give back in such a generous and impressive way, to help other children in our community.

Listen to my interview with Emma below and apologies, Emma tried to get all the sponsors in, but my phone memory wouldn’t make room!
